The Boggle Challenge: Muji 0.38 Disposable Gel Pen

Muji is a Japanese brand that literally translated means “no brand.” The pens and pencils are usually grey, white or black and are unassuming – not ones you would necessarily pick out of a line-up. But like that humble cup at the end of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, could the Muji 0.38 be a grail of disposable pens? Let’s try this one and find out.

The plastic barrel of the Muji is slightly textured and feels nice in the hand. The Muji 0.38 disposable is light, and writes immediately with little pressure. The ink flows evenly, with a very crisp fine line. The Muji writes very small, precise letters without much bleed.

The Muji 0.38 disposable pen performed very well, except for one game where it dropped a couple of letters. Not perfect, but the Muji got going again pretty easily.

Some design issues are as follows: The Muji disposable pen has a cap which can get lost. The clip on the cap is plastic and flimsy, like most disposables with caps.
Other than that, the muji was a winner – it’s cheap at around a $1, has a simple clean design, and functions quite well.

I don’t know if it’s the grail of disposable pens..That may be the Zebra bLen pen. But it’s a good one, nonetheless.
