A quick boggle review of the Ohto No Noc mechanical pencil. I played six rounds with the Ohto no-noc – and the no-noc is no good. I liked the similarly styled ballpoint pen, the ohto vi-vic, but this design isn’t working for me in pencil form.
And I’m sure it’s mostly psychological..It’s a 0.5 pencil, but it seems to write so dull. Look at the flair at the end of the barrel:
The flair has the effect of diffusion for me, rather than nice pointy focus. I feel it in the hand and in my brain, so that’s probably enough – even if the pencil writes reasonably sharp.
I didn’t trust the “no-noc” mechanism, which there so you can write without ever manually advancing the lead.
The Ohto no-noc is heavy aluminum, with a bit of a knurled grip, so it’s sturdy-but the no-noc is a no buy.
